USDA Rural Development is offering resources to support rural communities expand and upgrade their movie theaters and theater performance venues. Join them for a webinar on January 8, 2025 to learn about these investments, which will enhance economic growth and quality of life. These resources include (but are not limited to) building, expanding, and improving community-based businesses. Information on how the funding can upgrade equipment, install renewable energy systems, and finance expansion (amongst other things) will be shared with the audience. Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development released the award information for the 2023 Local Share Account (LSA) grant, and out of 2,748 eligible applications, $1.6 Billion in requests, 1,069 grants were awarded for a total of $346 million. Blair Planning submitted fifteen applications on behalf of Blair County municipalities, and FOUR RECIPIENTS HAVE BEEN AWARDED!!! Congratulations to the following LSA awardees in Blair County: - Central PA Humane Society for $700,000 - Freedom Twp Police Car $63,628 - North Woodbury Police Car $91,004 - Williamsburg VFD Engine Tanker $315,000

As part of the Department’s Aging Our Way, PA 10-year plan, this event will bring together a panel of experts to discuss the challenges older adults and their caregivers are facing in the Commonwealth, what supports are available for them, and we all can work together to ensure older Pennsylvanians live with the dignity and respect that they deserve. Healthy Blair County Coalition's Let’s Move Blair County Committee and Corporate Partners are conducting an Active Living Challenge for teams, schools, community groups, workplaces, faith-based organizations, WalkWorks Groups, and individuals. Form a team with people in your life who want to help build a healthier Blair County. This challenge will track active and fitness minutes. All types of activities count, including walking your dog, yoga, ice skating, swimming, tennis/pickleball, gardening, and more! Today was a bittersweet day at Blair Planning: Sherry Socie's last day as our Strategic Planner. Congratulations to Sherry on her new role as the Chief Clerk / County Administrator for Blair County! Sherry, you are an asset wherever you go. Blair Planning is sad to see you leave after 3+ years of exemplary work, but thrilled that Blair County chose such a strong and amazing candidate.
