As we prepare to celebrate the end of another National Football League (NFL) season (while also kicking off #BlackHistoryMonth!), we’re taking a moment to highlight Sandra Douglass Morgan, president of the Las Vegas Raiders, and Jason Wright, the outgoing president of the Washington Commanders. ?? Jason served as the first Black president of an NFL franchise while Sandra is the first Black woman to serve as an NFL team president. ?? It was truly an honor to have these two trailblazers grace the #BlackSportsBiz stage with fellow Black NFL presidents. ???

Reflecting on my time at the Black Sports Business Symposium, I can't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude and inspiration. Connecting with my good friend and colleague Cheikh N'Diaye was a highlight, as always, and it was incredible to reconnect and catch up on our journeys. One of the most impactful moments was meeting Gregory Gibson Jr., the founder of the Symposium. His vision and dedication to creating a space where Black professionals in sports can connect, learn, and grow is truly commendable. The foundation he has laid for this Symposium is nothing short of remarkable. Listening to James Cadogan and Lesley Slaton Brown, two esteemed members of the NBA family, discuss topics that directly empower us and our future was both enlightening and motivating. Their insights and passion for our community left a lasting impression on me. I also had the pleasure of reconnecting with our last NBA HBCU fellow, Raven Roberts. (Excuse the bad selfie—we all know I’m not a fan of how I look in suits, LOL!) I hope the life and career advice I’ve shared with her will help her navigate the waters much more smoothly than I did. She's amazing and will do tremendous things in the sports space. Lastly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the NBA for assembling an amazing team of people to experience the Symposium with. Shout out to Cameron Morris, M.S., Bria J. Townsend, Kalyn Hutchinson, Kamelah Muhammad, MBA, Zoe Haynes, Ameer Robertson, Sydney Skinner, Jessica Matos and Waheed Ameen. Your presence and energy made this experience even more memorable. Wait!, I can't forget I was able to finally meet and connect with Imani McCormick. Her passion and dedication to providing education and developing a dynamic work culture is unsurpassed. Thank you Nicholas Gartrelle for connecting us. I'm sorry, this is really the last shoutout (LOL). I had an amazing time in Atlanta and I don't want to miss anyone. Thank you to Wesley A. & Head Coach Maelo for showing me around the Atlanta Hawks Talon GC facility. I was able to witness National Basketball Association (NBA) 2K League history as MDS scored a season and league scoring record 60 points this season.
