Black Psychology Excellence- I’ve been blessed and honored to present at many conferences over the years, but as I grow older and wiser, I’ve become more intentional about the spaces I enter, the energy I surround myself with, and the knowledge, strength, and empowerment I share. I’m at a point in my career where I can choose where I show up—and for whom. And last month, it was an absolute honor to show up for BIOP (Blacks in Industrial Organizational Psychology) at their 2nd Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD. (https://blacksinio.org/). BIOP is a powerful movement—a collective of Black brilliance, leadership, and innovation in the psychology space. Being surrounded by trailblazers, experts, and emerging professionals who are igniting change reminded me why I do this work. To the BIOP family—thank you. Your dedication to uplifting and supporting Black professionals is unmatched. For those looking to expand their network and be part of a community that truly empowers, I highly recommend checking out BIOP and becoming part of this incredible movement. Let’s keep building. Let’s keep growing. Let’s keep pushing the field forward. #BIOP #BlackExcellence #Psychology #Community #Empowerment #IndustrialOrganizationalPsychology #BlackLeadership #Networking

The?Blacks in I/O Psychology (BIOP) Annual Conference?created a space for attendees to learn how human behavior can translate into workplace conduct and organizational settings, all while thinking about the future of organizations. We’re having the convos organizations aren't having and sparking innovative ways to rethink task-based performance versus utilizing value-based performance. It’s about aligning your core values with your current workplace and focusing on what can truly add value to the overall organization. It was great delivering this much-needed message to conference attendees alongside my colleague, Milpha Thomas Blamo, EdD. Looking forward to continuing these conversations and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in organizational growth! #BIOP2025 #Leadership #OrganizationalDevelopment #ValueDrivenPerformance

Reflecting back on the Blacks in I/O Psychology(BIOP) 2025 Conference & Gala, and how I left feeling so inspired! ?? The theme, "Harboring Innovation: Shaping Tomorrow’s Workplace," really hit home. The sessions were packed with ideas on how to make work more creative, engaging, and future-ready. I’m excited to take what I learned and apply it at Monex USA to help drive innovation and keep evolving our workplace. One of the highlights for me was speaking on a panel with Calla Zane, Jacadi Tillman, MPS, and Marjorie Bryant about our experience applying to jobs in I/O psychology. It was such an honor to share my journey and insights with others who are navigating the same path. Proud of the conversation we had and the connections made! But honestly, what made this event special was the sense of community. Being surrounded by so many amazing professionals, all passionate about making a difference in the workplace, was beyond energizing. I’m leaving with new connections, fresh ideas, and a renewed sense of purpose. Can’t wait to put these insights into action and continue shaping the future of work. Let’s keep pushing for change! ?? Shoutout to Jalen A. Byrd for making this panel possible! #BIOP2025 #Innovation #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceTransformation #Community #MonexUSA #IOPsychology #PanelDiscussion

Exciting to see our students, undergraduate, and graduate alumni actively engage in the 2025 Blacks in IO Psychology Conference. Looking forward to next year.
It was great for my colleague Dr. Elissa Abod and me to be at annual conference of Blacks in I/O Psychology (BIOP) held in Baltimore last week.?We had a solid representation of University of Maryland Baltimore County students and alumni. The conference featured substantive content and was a forum that collectively allowed us to catch up with other former students and colleagues--and meet new ones!?A number of people came by and visited our table to discuss the Masters in I-O program at UMBC.?This coming Tuesday night (02/25/2025), UMBC will again partner with BIOP and the PERSONNEL TESTING COUNCIL OF METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON for the annual Career Panel where early-career professionals share their journeys.
