Black Gun ownership talks and education. Why this podcast was made and what the target is. The end goal is always betterment of all. While this podcast can benefit other members of the 2A community, it is specifically geared towards black people. Mainly because of the events of 2020 and how they influenced many first time gun owners in the black community. That statement alone is why the Black Powder Podcast is seeking to create a positive image for black gun owners through education, safety and responsibility.

Doesn't take much to be a hero. Just a few liters ??
Alex Villa has known the need for blood transfusions and blood donation most of his life. His niece was diagnosed with leukemia when she was just a year old. But when Alex wanted to help his niece in her fight against cancer, as a gay man, he couldn't donate blood or bone marrow. “She faced a lot of issues and was a blood recipient for several units,” Alex said. “It was one of those times when you realize, as a family member, you have to step up and get engaged, and you want to be able to do that. I was 18, and not having that opportunity was really disheartening.” Alex has been working for the Red Cross for 14 years and currently serves as the director of Latino Engagement. As someone whose day-to-day work involves looking at things through a diverse and inclusive lens, being able to fully contribute to the Red Cross mission has always been important to him. “Seeing a blood drive go on every single day, knowing that the need is constant and knowing that I was someone who couldn't give, it was hard,” Alex said. “It makes you feel a little disconnected from our mission when you can’t feel as involved and do everything. I can take a CPR class, I can do all of these things, but the one thing that can really save multiple lives, I wasn't able to do.” That all changed last year, when the FDA updated its guidance, allowing for the elimination of blood donation policies based on sexual orientation. In November, Alex donated blood for the very first time, as a proud member of both the LGBTQ+ and Latino communities. ?? “Being able to tie what I do with who I am and my identity is really important,” Alex said. “This was one of those moments for me.” For years, we’ve worked to change the FDA deferral policy for gay and bisexual men. This included decades of data collection and assessment to improve transfusion safety and ongoing advocacy to eliminate donor questions based on sexual orientation. There is still work to be done, and we will continue to work in support of making blood donation a more inclusive process while keeping the blood supply safe.

The political impact on media reporting. Politics has a profound impact on the media industry, especially on issues that intersect hot-button topics like firearms and racial bias. Here's how politics can influence media coverage of incidents involving firearms and racial bias: 1. **Editorial Stances and Framing**: Media outlets often take editorial stances that align with their political ideologies or the views of their target audiences. When reporting on firearms involved in racial bias, politically conservative media might focus on aspects like individual rights and self-defense, while more progressive outlets often emphasize gun control and systemic racism. This can affect everything from which stories are covered to the language used in reporting. 2. **Policy Agenda Setting**: Politicians and policymakers prioritize certain issues and frame them in ways that can influence media narratives. When a political figure speaks about racially biased gun violence, this can prompt media attention and set the tone of coverage. Media coverage, in turn, can influence public opinion and potentially the political agenda. 3. **Political Climate and Public Discourse**: The broader political climate plays a significant role in shaping the context within which firearm-related racial bias incidents are reported. In a climate where racial issues are at the forefront of the political conversation, media coverage may be more intensive and nuanced. Conversely, in a climate that seeks to downplay racial tensions, such incidents might receive less attention or be framed differently. 4. **Selective Reporting**: Political influence can lead to biases in which stories are selected for coverage. Media influenced by particular political agendas may prioritize certain racially charged firearm incidents while downplaying or ignoring others, depending on whether the story reinforces or contradicts their preferred narrative. 5. **Access to Information and Sources**: Politics can affect media access to information, with law enforcement and government agencies potentially releasing or withholding information based on political considerations. Journalists may also struggle with access to communities and individuals impacted by gun violence and racial bias, with those community relationships often influenced by political dynamics.
That price tag is going to hurt, but I'm looking at it with high interest.
