Cyber Threat Notice: Veeam Backup & Replication Vulnerability (CVE-2024-40711) Veeam disclosed a critical RCE vulnerability (CVSS 9.8) affecting VBR versions 12.1.2.172 and earlier. This flaw allows threat actors to take control of systems, steal, encrypt, or delete backups, and move laterally within targeted environments. Active exploitation has been observed in the wild by ransomware groups like Akira and Fog. Immediate action is recommended: Update VBR to the latest version to patch the vulnerability.
