??CELEBRATING WOMEN IN SCIENCE || International Day of Women and Girls in Science Although science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields are widely regarded and rewarding, we still have a long way to go when it comes to ensuring STEM is an equitable field, with women making up just 33% of female researchers globally. We asked Humera Ahmad, Group Product Development Director at Blackmores Group what led her to a career in science, and what advice would she give to women and girls who are interested in a career in STEM. "I was always drawn to science due to a natural curiosity about the world of biology and chemistry, a desire to solve complex problems, and a passion for discovery and innovation. This led me to choose a career in healthcare and make a difference by understanding the relationship between nutritional deficiencies and disease state affecting quality of life. This is an ongoing learning process and leads to personal growth mentally and physically. Here’s one piece of advice for women and girls that are interested in career in STEM - believe in your abilities and seek out support from experts. Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and role models who encourage and inspire you. Don't be afraid to ask questions, take risks, and pursue your passions.
