Building energy management systems (BEMS) are used to monitor, control, and optimize energy consumption and manage decarbonization projects within existing building stock. The?BEMS?landscape has historically faced fragmentation and complexity,?with little incentive for building managers to adopt new?BEMS?due to the 'split incentive' problem between landlords and tenants. This may be changing.?At Blackhorn Ventures, we're tracking recent market shifts (changes to building performance standards, new approaches to stakeholder alignment, etc.) that have the potential to drive operational improvements and scale building decarbonization.
