Black Fleet Network? just had it’s 3rd birthday. What many may not know is that the seed for its conception was planted back in 2016 at #worktruckweek. Seeing 5 Black professionals among thousands of attendees against a backdrop of immeasurable economic valuation didn’t math right. And for the intent of business, math counts. Make no mistake about it, #BlackProfessionals are a foundation of the commercial #transporation and #mobility workforce, and the reason for many of the industry’s innovations that help to move the world. Just ask Ford Motor Company, Thermo King, or City of Atlanta. From manufacturing to fleet management, Black people are critical players in the success of all verticals. So, for BFN to now be a hub of collective action and progressive leaps is beyond exciting. Props to NTEA – The Work Truck Association? for seeing the vision and being open. To kick off Clean Cities Georgia's member highlights for this year, we are featuring Cobb County Government Fleets! Cobb Fleet has deployed the EV ARC “BEAM” and is actively upgrading aging electric vehicle charging stations through a RIP & Replace initiative funded by various grants. To recognize and encourage sustainability efforts, they recently launched a Department Sustainability Awards Program, celebrating departments that lead in eco-friendly initiatives. Additionally, Cobb Fleet proudly operates one of the largest EV fleets in the Southeast and remains deeply involved in community engagement through partnerships with Goodwill, Chattahoochee Tech, KSU, and the Krimson Community Foundation. This group has garnered multiple awards, including the NAFA Green Garage Award, NAFA Green Fleet Award, and NAFA 100 Best Fleet in North America, all last year in 2024. They are one of the top innovative fleets in the state of Georgia, if not the nation.
