Our Black Equity Collective Executive Committee meetings always begin with a question of the day. Today we asked: In honor of Women's History Month, share the best advice you received from your mom, grandma or any other Black woman who helped shape you. Here are the responses: "Do you want to be a fool for a minute or a fool for life? Don't be afraid to ask the question." "Listen to what Mary told the people when Jesus performed His first miracle: 'just do whatever He says.'" "It's a big town but it gets small quick." "Is worrying going to solve the problem? No? Then, why worry? "Don't let anyone play you." "Keep your kindness." "One chicken, three meals." "This too shall pass." "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." "Trouble don't last always." "You can do bad all by yourself! Don't let anyone else drag you down!" "Always say 'no' with a smile." "Be careful who you have kids with because they will be in your life for the rest of your life. Even if you're not together anymore, their personality will show up in your kids.
