Around the world today has a deep meaning. On this, the 11th day of the 11th month the guns of the “Great War” went silent and the promise of peace spread. While that peace did not hold, we should still be inspired by the vision of peace, and we should work towards that goal. Today in the United States we celebrate Veterans Day, and as an organization founded by a veteran it is mvery meaningful. We thank all those who have served for their dedication. To our fellow citizens in the community of nations, whether you celebrate Remembrance Day, Armistice Day, or another expression - thank you. And together, let us strive for peace.

For those who just see the timeline and think "that's nice," the 1918 page alone highlighting the work The Rockefeller Foundation has done with hookworms is a book-length heroic effort which shows when you work to find root causes you can make a difference. The prevailing stereotype of the day was that Southerners were lazy or worse as part of their natural state. The investigation into the "why" productivity was lower, instead of just writing *people* off led to remediation which benefited the lives of thousands for the better.
