Our vision is to see a greater representation of black professionals across all business levels in the Pharma industry.
关于我们
Black Pharma is a Social Enterprise which has a vision to see a greater representation of black professionals across all business levels in the Pharmaceutical industry. We aim to facilitate industry access and professional development for talented black professionals to be successful in Pharma. Research has shown that only 7.3% of board directors on UK life science companies are racial minorities, and just 3% of employees in the average US biotech company are black. Pharma needs more diversity. We work to facilitate access to the industry through apprenticeships, student industry placements, graduate schemes/roles, entry-level roles and experienced roles. We do this by advising on available opportunities across the industry, as well as securing work experience and job opportunities with our Partners. In addition, we provide practical support with job applications, CVs and interview preparation, to ensure that talented black individuals are well positioned for success. At Black Pharma we are committed to ensuring that black professionals not only gain access to the industry, but that they are also well-equipped to successfully progress in their career. We do this by supporting career development through professional mentoring, consultations, webinars and trainings. Our mission is to ensure that every black professional has an equal opportunity to maximise their potential and make a positive impact.

Black Pharma is proud to have been represented by our Managing Director, Yannick Foh, at the recent All-Party Parliamentary Group on Diversity & Inclusion in STEM meting that took place yesterday. The event, chaired by Samantha Niblett MP and Baroness Brown of Cambridge, was a fantastic opportunity to discuss the future of DEI in STEM. Key takeaways from the panel discussion included: - Metrics and Data: As Lord Kelvin famously said, "If you can't measure it, you cannot improve it." The need for robust metrics and data to support KPIs and drive improvement was emphasised. Legislation should support the availability of these metrics to ensure accountability and progress. Data should be linked to changing minds, actions, and behaviours, not just numbers. - Economic Growth: Aligning the narrative and messaging of DEI initiatives with economic growth is crucial. Effective DEI strategies are not just ethical but also drive economic value. We must build economic value into the DEI narrative, supported by authentic data and starting from grassroots initiatives. - Building DEI into Mission and Strategy: The importance of integrating DEI into the core mission and strategy of organisations was emphasised, with clear metrics. - Creating an Inclusive Environment and Ethical Responsibility: The importance of fostering an inclusive environment and a sense of belonging within STEM to improve retention, not just entry, was highlighted. It was argued that opening doors for people into environments that are not built for their success could be considered unethical. Hearing the challenges across different STEM industries highlighted similarities. Black Pharma shared some of the practical solutions that have worked in the pharmaceutical space and how similar programmes and initiatives can be replicated and deployed to create access and enable success. We look forward to continuing the discussions and supporting other STEM organisations in leveraging the fantastic work we have done in Pharma so far. We are excited to continue collaborations with the APPG members on developing KPIs and metrics and their relationship to economic growth. Special thanks to our esteemed speakers: Samantha Niblett MP, Dr. Roni Savage, Adam Vasco, Nisha Marwaha, Karen Blake, and Professor Dr Nira Chamberlain OBE FIMA FORS CSci PhD HonDSc DUniv. #BlackPharma #DiversityInSTEM #Inclusion #STEM #Innovation #Equity

Event Recap: Black Pharma x Pfizer Mentoring Programme Workshop Yesterday, we hosted an exclusive event for Black Pharma members in partnership with Pfizer as part of our 2025 Mentoring Programme. The session was packed with valuable insights and career advice from Pfizer experts, and we’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to connect with our members! The event covered a range of important topics, including early careers and opportunities, diversity and equity at Pfizer, and a career journey Q&A segment featuring guest panel speakers from Pfizer who shared their experiences and expertise. The top three takeaways from the event: ?? Stand Out in Your Application Process Go beyond submitting a CV! Show that you understand the company, the role, and its culture. A well-prepared application stands out and sets you apart from the competition. ?? Don’t Self-Reject—Go for That Role! You don’t need to tick every box to be the perfect candidate. Job titles like ‘Senior’ or ‘Lead’ shouldn’t discourage you—if you have the right skills and experience, go for it. ?? Embrace Change & Own Your Growth! Industries evolve, and so should you. Stay adaptable, seek support, and turn change into opportunity. A growth mindset helps you stay ahead. A big thank you to our Mentoring Programme sponsor, Pfizer, for making this event possible and for their continued commitment to supporting our members. A special thank you to the event speakers for their valuable contributions: Suzanne Hergest, Brittany Simpson, Valery Ochollah, Abi Oke, Rachel Ziregbe, Ahmed O. and Latoya Otis.
