However, selecting the proper thickness of stone is equally important. When thinner stone is used for flat work installations, they are more prone to crack, pop, and degrade over time. It can be a maintenance headache. A rustic aesthetic served as the foundation for this beautiful backyard oasis featuring a central axis pathway of irregular colonial steppers, Pennsylvania boulders, and free form landscape beds filled with sun-loving perennials embrace the new pool environment and celebrate site lines of adjacent horse pastures. Creeping thyme, Mazus, and Ajuga meander within the stepping stone joints, softening the tooled edges. Low voltage lighting accents the existing mature oak trees and the masonry features to create a relaxed ambiance for nighttime entertaining. ??
