Can't lie, this is dope! The College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota has featured our new partnership with Black Men Teach in their alumni magazine. Through this collaboration, we’re offering fully funded master's degrees and living stipend support to graduates of HBCUs, all in an effort to bring more Black men into our classrooms and inspire the next generation. While I knew this was coming, I had no clue they would put ya boy on the cover. Huge thanks to Katie Pekel for sending me a few copies to share with my family and commemorate this moment, Ryan Warren for his partnership in this project, and of course the team at Black Men Teach for all of their hard work in bringing this to life. Our Impact Director, Sean Sweat, has been critical in stewarding this effort and has recruited some incredible men for this collaboration. For those who know me, you understand how much this work means to me, and seeing this level of recognition is a powerful reminder of the impact we’re making in the community. We're proud to announce a new partnership with Black Men Teach (BMT) to support Black male teachers on their journeys to homeownership! Teachers who have been BMT members for two years can access financial coaching and down payment assistance through Habitat. “Representation in the classroom can change a student’s trajectory,” said Markus Flynn, Executive Director of BMT. “And none of my men should have to leave the profession to buy a home.” Danielle Duncan, Director of Equity and Inclusion at Twin Cities Habitat, said it best: We understand the transformational power of homeownership. Just as members of Black Men Teach are investing in our children, we’re investing in them.
