Today, we’re honoring cancer researcher and surgeon Dr. Jane Cooke Wright. Over her 40-year career, she developed new techniques for administering cancer chemotherapy. #BlackHistoryMonth

Here at UCSF's Black Health Initiative, we are proud to have Dr. Jonathan Butler, PhD, MDiv as our Associate Director! He’s been vital in leading the charge alongside our founder, Dr. Malcolm John, MD, MPH. Dr. Butler has played a pivotal role in our Healthy Street events, student mentorship, and community outreach.

Health begins where we live, learn, work, and play. Addressing the root causes of disparities is the key to achieving health equity!

For many, Homer G. Phillips Hospital meant that Black people could receive quality health care and training to become medical professionals themselves.
