Meet Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, a pioneering physicist and leader whose groundbreaking work has transformed technology, education, and STEM advocacy. As the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. in physics from MIT, she has paved the way for future generations in science and engineering. ? Her Work/Impact: Led research at Bell Labs that contributed to caller ID, touch-tone dialing, and fiber optic technology. Served as the 18th president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, driving innovation and global leadership. Honored with the National Medal of Science and inducted into the National Academy of Engineering. A lifelong advocate for diversity in STEM, inspiring and uplifting underrepresented scientists. Dr. Jackson’s legacy is one of brilliance, leadership, and unwavering commitment to equity in science and technology!
