#PartnerSpotlight: We partner with Black Earth Compost every year to make sure Gloucester's veggie gardens have a healthy foundation. This fall, Backyard Growers has distributed 9 yards of their compost and 4 yards of their soil blend across Gloucester's elementary school gardens. Plus, throughout the growing season, waste from our gardens are picked up by their crew and turned back into compost, creating full-circle gardens in Gloucester. Spring is finally here! Did you know that when collections customers elect not to receive their finished compost it is donated to Backyard Growers? This weekend they were hard at work topping off raised beds with our compost.
?? Burnham’s Field is the backyard to many in Gloucester, as well as a community garden location for 55 gardeners and their families. On Saturday morning, Backyard Growers and Burnham’s community gardeners worked together to prep every single garden bed with compost from Black Earth Compost. We love being a part of this massive community effort. (We moved 9 yards of compost by hand in two hours y’all!) The gardens are officially open, and before we know it they’ll be overflowing with beautiful produce.
