Trigger Warning: Sensitive Topic – Bullying Hey friends, I’m doing some light research and would love your thoughts on a topic that can be tough to discuss: bullying. If you’re comfortable, I’d appreciate hearing your perspective. Feel free to answer as much or as little as you’d like—any insight helps! Questions to Consider: ? Do you have a school-aged child (PreK-12th)? ? Has your child or loved one ever expressed experiencing bullying or being a bully themselves? ? How did this experience affect them physically, mentally, and /or emotionally? ? How did you feel as a caretaker when you learned about it? ? What did you do to support them? ? Who did you turn to for help, and how did the school respond (if they were involved)? ? Were you satisfied with how the situation was handled? Did the bullying stop? Reflection Questions: ? What role do you think schools should play in addressing bullying? ? Who do you feel holds responsibility—children, parents, or others? ? Do you think parents of a child who bullies should be held accountable? Why or why not? Advice for Others: ? What advice would you give to parents struggling to respond productively? ? What advice would you share with a child experiencing bullying or engaging in it? Let’s approach this with empathy and collaboration. Thank you for sharing your experiences and ideas—it means a lot! #BullyingAwareness #ParentingSupport #CommunityConversation #SafeSchools

In addition to her groundbreaking work, Dr. Brittany Lewis played a pivotal role in collaborating with my organization to produce our first biannual Community Impact Report in 2023, covering the years 2020–2022. Her expertise in research and community engagement was instrumental in guiding the process, ensuring that the report not only captured the quantitative data but also the qualitative stories that truly reflect the experiences and voices of our community. Through her facilitation, we were able to highlight the progress made, identify areas of need, and lay the foundation for future initiatives. Dr. Lewis’s dedication to bridging the gap between research and real-world impact continues to resonate in every aspect of our work.
Celebrating the brilliance and leadership of my friend and research inspiration Dr. Brittany Lewis Nearly a decade ago, she founded Research in Action with a mission to #BridgeTheGaps between dynamic research analytics and community development, and she’s been transforming lives ever since! I first had the honor of working with Dr. Brittany Lewis during my time as a lab assistant at Juxtaposition Arts. Even though I joined late in the development of the Illusion of Choice project, which investigated housing disparities in North Minneapolis, her visionary leadership left a lasting impact. Dr. Lewis used institutional resources and her deep trust in the community to empower young people like me, showing us how research could drive meaningful change. Tonight, I witnessed her leadership in a new light at TEDxMinneapolis Confluence. With her powerful words, she shared three moving stories and called us all to action: (paraphrased) “Consider your role and how you contribute or disrupt systems that perpetuate the illusion of choice in housing.” Dr. Brittany Lewis, you continue to inspire and lead with unparalleled grace and wisdom. Here’s to many more years of bridging gaps and empowering communities! ???????????????????? #CommunityDevelopment #TEDxMinneapolis #Leadership #HousingJustice
