Tonight, we hosted our Monthly B?labs Residents Happy Hour with a special Thanksgiving twist! Our community came together to enjoy a family-style evening featuring a Build Your Own Gobbler bar—a fun and festive way to kick off the holiday season. We were excited to welcome STEMPeers ?, who shared their inspiring mission of giving back to the life sciences ecosystem through peer-to-peer mentoring and fostering meaningful connections. Their work aligns beautifully with our shared commitment to collaboration and community growth. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of connection and gratitude. Our B?labs Professional Development + Career Mentoring Program participants had an incredible experience at SK pharmteco's King of Prussia site today! As a global leader in the life sciences, SK pharmteco specializes in developing and manufacturing complex pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, bringing innovative therapies to life for patients worldwide. During the visit, our students not only met the talented team behind these essential processes but also got a glimpse into SK’s cutting-edge labs. The day included a friendly round of science Jeopardy, a lab tour, and even a great lunch to cap it off. A huge thank you to SK pharmteco for showing our students the impactful work they do every day to advance global health! We turned up the Halloween spirit at this month’s B?labs resident happy hour, co-hosted with our friends at Mispro! With creative costumes, spooky treats, and a fantastic crowd, attendees gathered for an evening of festive fun and meaningful connections. These monthly gatherings are more than just a good time—they’re a chance to foster connections that strengthen Philly’s life sciences ecosystem. A huge thank-you to Mispro for joining us in making this happy hour a hauntingly good success!

What a full and exciting day we had at the B?labs Professional Development and Career Mentoring Program last Friday! +First, we visited Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, where the students conducted a hands-on experiment. They got to see biomedical research in action and understand how cutting-edge science can solve real-world health challenges.+ +Next, we partnered with Jacobs and AES Clean Technology to tour one of their projects for a biotech client in Center City currently under construction. While still in development, the students gained valuable insights into how architecture, engineering, and design are critical in constructing state-of-the-art facilities that will soon support the manufacturing of groundbreaking gene therapies. This tour highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in bringing advanced healthcare solutions to life.+ +Lastly, we explored Drexel University's Cognitive Neuroengineering and Quantitative Experimental Research building. The highlight was meeting Pepper the robot and discovering how virtual reality (VR) and advanced technologies are helping scientists better understand the brain. This peek into neuroengineering opened their eyes to the role technology plays in neuroscience research. A special thank you to Dr. Candida Barreto for sharing her remarkable career journey and valuable insights with the students over lunch.+ It was an inspiring day, full of discovery and deeper appreciation for the wide variety of careers connected to life sciences. We are just a few weeks away from the Advanced Therapies USA event, which will bring Europe’s largest cell and gene therapy conference and exhibition, the Advanced Therapies Congress, to Philadelphia! This event is designed for the leaders of the world’s ATMP developers and their senior executives who are in charge of the latest technologies and strategies driving the industry forward.
