??On March 2, 2025, the U.S. Treasury Department announced the suspension of enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) for U.S. citizens and domestic reporting companies. ?? This decision means that businesses will no longer face penalties or fines for non-compliance with the CTA's beneficial ownership information reporting requirements under the existing regulatory deadlines. The Treasury also plans to narrow the scope of the rule to apply only to foreign reporting companies, aiming to reduce regulatory burdens on small American businesses. The CTA, enacted in 2021, was designed to combat illicit financial activities by requiring businesses to disclose their beneficial owners to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). However, the recent suspension reflects a shift in policy, with the Treasury Department emphasizing support for hardworking American taxpayers and small businesses. ??
