Hashtags or no hashtags? LinkedIn’s latest changes might surprise you! According to Linkedin, hashtags can assist in discovery, but the platform's search algorithms now consider a broader range of contextual cues, including semantic matching. This means that LinkedIn's search system is getting smarter, using concepts and personalization to match search queries more effectively. The bottom line- if you've already mentioned a keyword in your post, adding it as a hashtag probably won't boost your chances of discovery. Stop viewing social media as a means to an end!?? Sure, social media usually has a bigger picture goal such as driving traffic to your website, generating leads, or increasing brand awareness. But not every post needs to have a direct goal. Social media should also be about providing value within the platform itself and branding your page as a go-to place for valuable information. I recently had a consultation with a client in the health and wellness industry. They were struggling to grow their social media presence and wanted to drive more traffic to their website. During our discussion, we identified that their content was heavily focused on promotional posts, which were not resonating with their audience. I advised them to shift their strategy to include more value-driven content. We brainstormed ideas for educational posts, such as wellness tips, healthy recipes, and success stories from their clients. Today their content is reaching a significantly higher audience, which ultimately helps them reach their goal of driving more traffic to their website.
