Thank you to Gastonia East Rotary Club who presented us with a $1000 donation for the continued development of the Ranch's Wellness Wheel Programs. This initiative will help us broaden our range of therapy services that address trauma, anxiety, phobias, etc. We are passionate about getting to the root cause of issues and these programs will help guide clients along their path of healing. Thank you again for your support!

关于我们
The Ranch offers professional mental health counseling services using traditional and equine assisted therapy models for clients ages 5 and up. The Ranch also provides therapeutic riding programs for clients with disabilities as well is a site for Hippotherapy services. The horses at the Ranch are rescued or on their second careers. Their stories share hope to clients that are hurting. Bit of Hope is a learning site for school field trips, scout groups and corporate coaching using the horses and outdoor learning stations. Instructors also teach horsemanship riding lessons to individuals as well as group Saddle Clubs. The Ranch is also a unique outdoor venue for parties, celebrations and weddings. The 50 acre farm is home to over a dozen horses and small barnyard animals. The property includes a main barn, covered riding arenas, a 900 sq ft Wellness clinic, a Counseling Office as well as a Barnyard Petting Area, and a Waterfront playground area. The Kangaroo Jump Pillow (a 50' long in ground trampoline) is located in the play area and brings smiles and squeals from all ages!

Yesterday, the Ranch family said goodbye to Doc. Doc was our first rescue horse when the Ranch opened its gates. He was abandoned in a field in January with no shelter, food or water. He arrived with matted hair over skin and bones. In the spring he shed his coat and we were able to see the scars from previous abuse. He was an emotional wreck from being starved. Every mealtime he would be sweat, paw and become a different (and dangerous) horse. Over time, he learned to trust. We eventually started riding him and begin integrating him into our therapy programs. For counseling, he was a strong presence that demanded his clients to protect their boundaries and to find inner strength. It seemed his eyes could look right through their tough exterior and see what they were trying so desperately to hide. For the nervous and fragile riders, he settled into a steady tempo that allowed them to feel confident and to see their world from a different perspective. At 34 years old, Doc's gut became compromised and caused a twisted gut early Monday morning. The pain meds helped keep him up all day yesterday while we waited to see the prognosis. As the day progressed, his pain and stress increased. Our only humane solution was to euthanize him to give him the peace and dignity that he deserved. He was surrounded by Carole Fuller, his life time sponsor and friend as well as other Ranch friends. Howie and Dublin visited him to help them move through the letting go process. Doc, we will miss: 1. Your nickers at meal time 2. You running to the fence when your name was called 3. You scaring new volunteers when they tried to come into your stall 4. watching riders enjoy their first canter on you 5. you red glossy coat 6. You constant nibbling while mounting 7. You and Howie playing for everyone to see Please feel free to share your thoughts and memories below.

Our next Stories of Hope Tour is this weekend! Come out and join our free walking tour to hear the history and heart of the Ranch. The PAWS HQ is our sponsor this month. This brand new company started locally to provide pet supplies to animal lovers that are American made. Their group has a heart for helping Veterans as well as Rescue groups. Not only do they care about these topics, but they donate proceeds to worthy causes. Bit of Hope Ranch is grateful to be recognized by their group!
