More than 260 surrendered commercially bred dogs are now safe, thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Animal Incident Management team in partnership National Mill Dog Rescue. Yesterday, 140 dogs received their first-class ticket to second chances with BPF shelter partners in North Carolina and Virginia. Our partners in Missouri welcomed the remaining dogs. Many are already settling into foster homes as they prepare for adoption. Collaboration saves lives! This lifesaving mission would not have been possible without our partners and supporters like you. A special thank you to Loudoun County Animal Services for being on the ground with us and to every shelter and rescue partner who stepped up to give these dogs a second chance.

BISSELL Pet Foundation's Animal Incident Management team is on the ground in Missouri, once again, answering the call to save lives in partnership with National Mill Dog Rescue. ?? More than 200 dogs surrendered from commercial breeders are on their way to new lives with help from BPF and our incredible partners. Today, these dogs are being examined by veterinarians, vaccinated and provided with health certificates to prepare for transport to our partner shelters in Missouri, North Carolina and Virginia! This mission was initiated to support NMDR as they continue to receive an overwhelming number of requests to take in dogs and puppies from large-scale commercial breeding operations. These dogs are often discarded due to the inability to sell them or the scaling back or closure of the business. Without BPF and our partners, these dogs may not have received a second chance. Shelter pets are waiting longer than ever to find loving homes, but together, we can change that! At BISSELL Pet Foundation, we’re committed to helping pets in need by working with shelters and rescues to find lifesaving solutions. Last week, we launched BPF's New York Intrastate Transport Program – Long-Stay Pet Initiative in partnership with nearly 20 shelters and rescues across the state. This program helps pets in shelters for more than 30 days get a fresh start by transporting them to other areas and BPF partners where they will have a better chance of adoption. Last week, severe flooding devastated multiple counties in Eastern Kentucky, adding to the burden on already overcrowded shelters. BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Animal Incident Management, in partnership with Kentucky Humane Society, is transporting shelter pets from Floyd, Estill and Pike Counties to create space for displaced animals needing reunification with their families. To further save lives, we’re hosting an Emergency Empty the Shelters? event at Kentucky Humane Society from Feb. 28 – March 2. Adoption fees for adult dogs (1 year and older) are waived at KHS’ Sam Swope Pet TLC and East Campus, helping pets find loving homes while freeing space for more in need. Thanks to our shelter partners who opened their doors to pets from impacted counties and to the Kentucky Humane Society team for their leadership and strength when disaster strikes! ??

The pets and people impacted by the Los Angeles area wildfires continue to be in our thoughts. We are grateful to BISSELL Pet Foundation partner, San Diego Humane Society, who recently hosted an Emergency Empty the Shelters? event to create space to support pets from the impacted area. During the event, 43 dogs and 50 cats found homes, allowing San Diego Humane Society to take in pets who had been in LA area shelters before the fires and provide relief for the recovering shelters.
