State of North Dakota is committed to continuously raising the standard of living for its citizens. Earlier this month, Governor Doug Burgum and the North Dakota Housing Initiative Advisory Committee released strategic recommendations to address the state’s housing needs. These recommendations focus on availability, affordability, and stability. This plan reflects insights gathered from community stakeholders across the state. The initiative includes: -Supporting local housing efforts by reducing red tape and updating local zoning codes. -Encouraging vibrant housing markets with grants for innovative urban and rural housing solutions. -Financing new housing developments and providing affordable construction loans. -Enhancing support for homelessness services by providing emergency shelter operating funds and rapid re-housing assistance. -Providing financial literacy to equip renters and homeowners with the knowledge they need to access housing assistance programs. -Boosting the construction workforce with resources for training and technological advances. These recommendations will be presented to the 69th Legislative Assembly as part of the governor's executive budget proposal this December.
