??EVERYONE deserves access and autonomy over their own bodies, regardless of race, gender, identity, or background. True freedom means having the right to make choices about our bodies; championing reproductive rights ensures liberty for all. ??

?? When one state's right to bodily autonomy is threatened, everyone's rights are at risk, creating a potential domino effect for states with more permissive laws like Virginia. Learn about this #reprojustice win! ????? ?? Supreme Court Ruling: ?The Court dismissed an appeal against Idaho’s strict abortion ban, temporarily blocking the state's law and permitting emergency abortions. ?? Health Protections: ?The decision supports the stance that federal law requires hospitals to provide abortions in cases where a pregnant woman’s health is at risk. ?? Accidental Posting? An early version of the opinion was accidentally posted online, revealing the Court's decision before the official release. ? ?? Concurrences and Dissents? The opinion saw an alliance of justices from across the ideological spectrum while recognizing the decision's temporary nature, emphasizing it is a delay rather than a permanent solution. ?? Election Context: ?The decision removes abortion from the Court’s docket prior to the general election, although the issue is expected to return. Source: @CNN

??BIG news — if true. Read the details ???? ?? Supreme Court's Leaked Decision:? The Court is poised to permit emergency abortions in Idaho, reinstating a lower court order that allows hospitals to protect pregnant individuals’ health/ This was discovered due to a prematurely released statement on the court's site. “The Supreme Court’s press office said the opinion in the case had not been officially released. “The Court’s Publications Unit inadvertently and briefly uploaded a document to the Court’s website,” said Patricia McCabe, the court’s public information officer. “The Court’s opinion in Moyle v. United States and Idaho v. United States will be issued in due course.””?? ?? Health Protections: This decision means hospitals in Idaho can perform emergency abortions to prevent serious harm to a woman’s health a right that should have never been in question to begin with. ?? Case Background: ? This is the Court's first major abortion case since overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022 and involves the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). ?? On June 24th, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court made a significant decision by overturning the case of Roe v. Wade and ruling that there is no federal constitutional right to abortion. This loss, combined with existing disparities, disproportionately affects marginalized communities, perpetuating systemic inequalities in reproductive healthcare. While abortion rights, once safeguarded by Roe v. Wade, represent just one essential hue in the full spectrum of reproductive health care, the true stories of reproductive health rights in Virginia illustrate a complex struggle encompassing personal challenges, social debates, political tensions, and the urgent need for comprehensive protections. ?? The RJ Storytelling Project, led by Birth in Color and in collaboration with the ACLU of Virginia, aims to diversify the conversation around reproductive health. This project captures the stories of Virginians who’s experiences illustrate the complex realities of reproductive justice — beyond abortion rights. ??
