On this Indigenous Peoples' Day, we celebrate the rich heritage, cultural resilience, and unwavering leadership of Native communities. Indigenous peoples have always been at the forefront of justice movements—leading the fight for environmental protection, cultural preservation, and self-determination. ??? Water Protection & Land Stewardship American Indian communities have long stood as defenders of the Earth. From the Standing Rock Sioux leading the fight to protect water from the Dakota Access Pipeline, to Indigenous land stewards safeguarding biodiversity and fighting for climate justice, where leadership is rooted in centuries of knowledge about living in harmony with the natural world. ?? Justice Movements Native American leaders are also critical voices in broader social justice movements, including movements for racial equity, birth justice, and human rights. The advocacy of Indigenous women, in particular, has shaped the landscape of reproductive rights and healthcare access, addressing the systemic inequities faced by Native families. These voices are essential in advancing birth justice and maternal health equity, ensuring that the next generations are born into a world that honors their heritage. ?? Cultural Bearing & Resilience Through art, language, and sacred traditions, Indigenous peoples continue to be the cultural bearers of rich histories, passing on knowledge, wisdom, and stories that have been handed down for generations. This cultural strength is foundational not only to Indigenous identity, but to the collective resilience of their communities. At the Birth Justice Collaborative, we partner with American Indian communities in their ongoing fight for sovereignty, environmental justice, health equity, and cultural preservation. Today and every day, we honor the strength, leadership, and wisdom of Indigenous peoples. #indigenouspeoplesday #birthjustice #maternalhealthoutcomes #selfdetermination #culturalknowledge

These heartbreaking disparities highlight the urgent need for action. The Birth Justice Collaborative is addressing the systemic racism in healthcare to ensure that all families receive the support and care they need. #BirthJustice #BirthJusticeAdvocacy #MaternalMortalityDisparities #MaternalHealthCrisis #DisparityReductionNow
