Over 150 biotech startups, investors, partners, academics, VCs, and almost 40 speakers were gathered and hosted by Phase Capital and 615.vc. Last week, I returned to Nashville early from a conference to attend the Biotech Day Summit, and I'm so glad I did. The day was packed with learning, insightful conversations, and networking with new and familiar faces. ?BioTech Day Summit 2024 Recap | Tennessee? What a beautiful day filled with wonderful conversations! It was great to represent Chicago at one of the largest biotech summits in the state of Tennessee. Kavya Sharman, PhD (Phase Capital), and Oliver Muoto (615.vc) did a wonderful job creating a dynamic space for meaningful connections! No two communities are alike; often, it is the intentionality and leadership of a few individuals that make communities like this shine. Shoutout to Kavya and Oliver and all the attendees for creating a space for innovation to blossom! At the start of the day, I had the pleasure of speaking on Navigating Biotech with leaders Shaherah Yancy and Woody Bibb. Their stories of centering the patient, remaining curious, and building authentic relationships shone through. To close the day, I spoke with Kavya, Oliver, and Scott Rader, MBA, AIF to share Funding Strategies for Biotech Startups. We emphasized the importance of solid technology, a clear financial story, and a strong understanding of who are the right investors for your company. A partnership mindset goes a long way in finding the right funders! Engaging strategic partners as soon as possible can help accelerate closing a round. Advancing health equity and building innovations in biotechnology is a national effort. Regional hubs play an important role in supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs who are improving patient care or developing the next major cure for a large unmet medical need!
