Meet Clarissa Nobile, the chief executive officer of BioSynesis, Inc. She is a microbiologist and molecular and cell biology professor at the University of California, Merced. Before joining the UC Merced faculty in 2014, Nobile undertook her postdoctoral studies at the University of California, San Francisco, and earned her doctoral degree in microbiology from Columbia University. Nobile’s research is directed toward understanding the molecular and mechanistic bases of microbial communities. Her work has been published extensively, and she has received numerous scientific awards, including from the American Society for Microbiology and the Genetics Society of America.
