The Breakthrough in Cooling Water Intake Monitoring: DTZ Explore + ADCP Technology BioSonics’ all-new DTZ Explore Split Beam Sonar integrates seamlessly with ADCP (current profiling) systems, delivering a revolutionary solution to cooling water intake protection. Harmful intake intrusions of debris and jellyfish occur when large accumulations of this drifting matter become entrained in particular current conditions. The solution for reliable event forecasting is an integrated monitoring system that simultaneously measures current direction (ADCP) and drifting matter biomass (Split Beam Sonar) providing data for an accurate alert of imminent intrusion. Split Beam Sonar has the unique ability to differentiate between drifting matter (the threat) and swimming marine life (non threatening). New for 2025: The BioSonics DTZ Explore - Autonomous Split Beam Sonar A compact, low-power, scientific wideband split beam sonar system. Split-beam sonar is the gold standard for delivering precise, defensible scientific data on aquatic life abundance, distribution and behavior. Now this critical data can be collected virtually anywhere, anytime and at a much lower cost. The DTZ Explore consumes just 6 watts of power and features: System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture, with a Linux operating system and autonomous data collection (1TB storage), data processing and reporting. All of this is packed into a submersible device roughly the size of a volleyball. Easy integration as a plug & play external sensor, the DTZ Explore is perfect for unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), buoys, and long term sea lander applications.
