Recycled Air Systems: The heating and ventilation system utilizes recycled air, significantly reducing energy consumption and waste. This system captures and reuses 90% of the energy from extracted air to heat fresh air, enhancing energy efficiency. 4??     Roofscapes, with support from the City of Paris, completed a pilot project using timber and vegetated roof platforms to reduce rooftop temperatures. The project shows temperature reductions of up to 32°C on the roof compared to traditional zinc rooftops, which can reach 80°C. Launched in spring 2024, the 100 m2 platform at Académie du Climat was built from sustainable materials and features local plants.     Studio Gang Aspen tree-inspired hotel ‘??????????????’ opens its doors in Denver, Colorado. Now complete, the 265-room hotel is defined by its biophilic facade whose openings mimic the eye-shaped marks of the state’s beloved #Aspen trees. The 265-room design is being promoted as the first ‘carbon-positive’ hotel development in the United States and features a combination of highly sustainable building materials and offsetting strategies that target a LEED Gold certification. Situated on a prominent site that connects civic, arts, and commercial districts, Populus opens itself up to the city and the Rocky Mountains beyond, positioning itself to become a new downtown social center. The hotel, operated by @aparium, offers guests immersive views of the nearby State Capitol, Civic Center Park, and the Rocky Mountains. Windows in select rooms feature built-in seating, providing occupiable spaces where guests can feel closer to nature. With over 115,000 plants, this remarkable vertical garden, designed by Paisajismo Urbano, doesn’t just enhance the city’s aesthetics. It cleans the air, reduces urban heat, and provides oxygen for thousands of people daily. But this project goes beyond greenery. It’s a testament to innovation and teamwork. When architects faced challenges bringing their vision to life, they partnered with Paisajismo Urbano and other experts to develop breakthrough solutions, including advanced irrigation systems and sustainable water recycling, using the building’s own water supply. The result? A building that doesn’t just shelter people—it nurtures life. Santalaia demonstrates that we don’t need to settle for sterile, concrete cities.
