The Department of Biotechnology jointly with Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) will be hosting a #Webinar Series on #Biofoundry and #Biomanufacturing Initiative starting from 14th November. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Department of Biotechnology #DBT BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment and Employment) Policy for ‘Fostering High Performance Biomanufacturing’ on 24th August 2024. This Policy lays down the framework for the implementation of the #Biofoundry and #Biomanufacturing Initiative. This initiative will promote green growth in the country, by transforming today's consumptive manufacturing paradigm to the one based on regenerative principles. The unsustainable pattern of material consumption, resource over-utilization and waste generation has led to climate change related challenges such as burning forest, melting glaciers and declining biodiversity. #Biomanufacturing can provide a solution to several of these challenges by leveraging living systems coupled with engineering to produce commercially important bio-based products using biomass and waste resources. The policy will promote an integrated approach towards promoting circular economy for Green, Clean and Prosperous India”. Through our bi-weekly ‘Webinar series on Biofoundry and Biomanufacturing’, we will focus on ‘Scientific Talks and discussions’ by DBT, BIRAC officials and eminent scientists on each of the thematic sector/subsector of Biomanufacturing emphasizing upon latest developments in the respective sectors, how it will impact India’s Bioeconomy, along with insights on Bioenablers including Bio-Artificial Intelligence Hubs, Biofoundries and Biomanufacturing Hubs.
