In 2024, companies spent more than $350 billion globally on employee training and development. Given this level of monetary investment, not to mention the time spent finding and onboarding the right candidate, it's crucial to find the right fit on the first attempt. But between relying on in-house HR and bringing in third-party search firms, which predictably yields the best results? Check out our new article, written by Lois Anzelowitz Levine, for an exploration of internal and external recruitment strategies, and why a hybrid approach is often most effective: https://loom.ly/Le165fw #HR #Recruitment #Hiring #TheBioHireJournal

We’ve all seen them—digital badges declaring “best workplace” displayed proudly on websites and social media. But do these awards even matter to job seekers? Thank you Nikita McClain and Brian McGowan for the excellent insights in this piece from The BioHire Journal! #recruiting #lifesciences #humanresources

The U.S. Job Market Is Very Broken—And No One’s Talking About It While the official numbers paint a rosy picture, if you dig deeper, the reality is alarming. After the Great Financial Crisis, 8 million jobs disappeared—and never came back. Many workers who lost stable employment didn’t retrain, didn’t “learn to code”—they simply left the labor force. Others were forced into the “new normal” jobs: Uber drivers, Amazon warehouse workers, and gig labor with no benefits or stability. Here are some worrisome indicators: -Net hours worked per employee: At a 15-year low -Net hiring (NFP growth): At an 9 year low -Consumer confidence: Near a 10-year low -Labor force participation rate: Hovering near a 40-year low That last stat is critical. The workers who lost their jobs in 2008-2010 didn’t “reskill.” Many simply gave up, scraping by on whatever subsidies or low-wage work they could find. The real unemployment rate isn’t 4%—it’s likely closer to 9% when accounting for discouraged workers and those stuck in low-quality jobs. Still skeptical? Look at staffing companies— reliable labor market bellwethers. Many are struggling, with stock prices near 10 year lows. That’s a major warning sign for the broader economy. The U.S. must prioritize real job creation—because right now, it’s the only thing keeping the economy from tipping into a deeper recession. And we are literally teetering on the brink. #jobs #hiring #hiringnow #unemployed www.Biohire.org?
