There are different types of lupus, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), which is a chronic and multifactorial autoimmune disease, where the body’s own immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues in multiple organs such as skin, kidneys, and liver. People living with SLE can experience periods of illness or flares alternating with periods of inactivity. ? We are advancing research to address SLE and other forms of lupus. Friedreich ataxia (FA) is an extremely rare form of ataxia.
