Volunteering is near and dear to my heart. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that service isn’t just about giving—it’s about growing, together. Meet Maddie. I met Maddie when she was 17 through my work with Tandem Mentorship Program & TreeHouse Hope. At the time, she didn’t have a strong support system and didn’t fully realize her potential. Over time, we helped support her to: ? Graduate high school ? Get her driver’s license (this one was scary - parents, how do you do it?!) ? Secure a full-time job ? Start living independently But here’s the thing—if you asked me who benefitted more from that initial leap into volunteering, I genuinely couldn’t tell you. Maddie has changed my life just as much as I may have impacted hers. She’s now family, even calling my mom "Mee-maw," and I often refer to her as my "adopted daughter." She even made it to my wedding in November! ?? I share this because your service to your community matters. Whether it’s: ?? Volunteering at a food pantry ?? Assisting in disaster relief ?? Picking up garbage ?? Spending time with the elderly ?? Supporting our veterans It all makes a difference. So, I’d love to hear from you: How are you giving back? Drop a comment and share your story!
