???????????????????? ?????????????? ??????????: ?????? ???????????????? ?????????????? ???? ???????????? Plastic waste is often seen as a problem, but what if we told you it could be a valuable resource? Our latest Social Behaviour Change Communication (#SBCC) animation illustrates the life cycle of plastic, showing how segregated waste contributes to a value chain—ultimately transforming into composite boards. This is the power of the #circulareconomy - where waste is not discarded but repurposed into something meaningful. By adopting sustainable waste management practices, we can reduce pollution, create economic opportunities, and build a cleaner future. ???? This animation is developed under the RIVER+ project, funded by the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia Project, implemented by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme, supported by The World Bank, and with implementing support from UNOPS. The RIVER+ project is led by Biocomp Nepal in partnership with People in Need Nepal and CLEAN UP NEPAL. Together, we are committed to combating plastic pollution and protecting our rivers! ?? Watch the animation and be part of the change! #CircularEconomy #PlasticInnovation #PlasticFreeRivers

On March 11, 2025, as part of the WASH Facility installation, we successfully handed over two period-friendly portable toilets to Srijanshil Traders and Sah Scrapers. Both toilets feature separate compartments for men and women, along with a hand-washing station. The Sah Scraper center’s toilet is also designed to be fully accessible for people with disabilities. The women’s compartment is equipped with a sanitary pad vending machine and a disposal bin for used pads. After the handover, we conducted an orientation for the Informal Waste Workers on proper usage, cleanliness, and maintenance. To ensure hygiene, we also provided sanitary pads, cleaning supplies, soap dispensers, hand towels, and sanitizers to the two Her Safety women’s committees. These facilities are provided through the RIVER+ project, funded by the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia Project, implemented by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme, supported by The World Bank, and with implementing support from UNOPS. The project is led by Biocomp Nepal in partnership with People in Need Nepal and CLEAN UP NEPAL. Together, we are committed to combating plastic pollution and protecting our rivers! #PlasticFreeRivers?

We successfully completed our Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) training with factory employees at Simara. The session covered important topics such as gender roles, power, patriarchy, and socialization. Participants learned about the differences between gender and sexuality, and gained valuable knowledge on SGBV, its impact, and how to access protection services. Through roleplay, employees took on different societal roles, leading a survivor through the process of seeking justice. We also discussed evolving gender roles and expectations, explored risk assessments, and used the Genderbread Person model to understand the spectrum of gender and identity. By fostering awareness and encouraging service-seeking behavior, we are working together to create a safer, more equitable environment for all. This training was conducted under the RIVER+ project which is funded by the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia Project, implemented by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme, supported by The World Bank, and with implementing support from UNOPS. The project is led by Biocomp Nepal in partnership with People in Need Nepal and CLEAN UP NEPAL. Promoting safety and preparedness! The Jagriti Mahila Samiti and Sankalan Mahila Surakshya Samiti, formed through the Her Safety trainings, received essential support materials based on identified workplace risks through a risk mapping activity—first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and solar-powered lights. These resources empower them to address workplace hazards, ensure safety during late hours, and be prepared for emergencies. Sabin Adhikari, Emergency and Anticipatory Action Lead at PIN, provided guidance on the proper use of first aid kits and demonstrated how to effectively use fire extinguishers. The conditional support material distribution was through the RIVER+ project which is funded by the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia Project, implemented by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme, supported by The World Bank, and with implementing support from UNOPS. The project is led by Biocomp Nepal in partnership with People in Need Nepal and CLEAN UP NEPAL. Continuing from Day 1, Day 2 of our Plastic Waste Management Training for 500 Informal Waste Workers (IWWs) was packed with deeper insights and hands-on learning! ???? We explored the properties of plastics, their long lifespan, and the environmental threat of microplastics. Participants received a Know Your Plastic Kit, helping them identify common plastic waste found in Nepal’s markets, and saw firsthand examples of upcycled plastic products. Practical sessions focused on household plastic segregation, guidelines for informal waste workers, and how to properly shred, bail, and sell plastics for recycling. We also introduced Plastic to Value Kit, empowering waste aggregators to enhance their collection and processing efforts. The training is a part of the RIVER+ project, funded by the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia Project, implemented by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme, supported by The World Bank, and with implementing support from UNOPS.
