This past weekend we hosted our first in-person speaker panel event! We were thrilled to have Bryan Goodman and Morgan Starley of Binghamton Athletics, and Trevor Potenzino from the Binghamton Black Bears come speak to our members and provide us with great insights about pursuing a career in sports. Our members had the opportunity to ask our panelist career related questions and form connections amongst each other, followed by a great win by our Men’s Basketball team over Maine! For our first guest speaker of the semester, we welcomed John Hartrick, Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Communications for Binghamton University Athletics. John supervises a full-time staff of five individuals and dozens of student employees in the communications and broadcast areas. He also has developed a robust student-intern program that provides training ground for undergraduate and graduate students at Binghamton and several other colleges in Upstate New York. He serves as the primary contact for men’s basketball, baseball, women’s soccer and men’s tennis and is the main point-of-contact for the athletics department. Thank you John for taking the time to sit down and share your story and valuable insights with us.

Last night we were thrilled to host John Willi for our second speaker series of the semester. John currently serves as the Vice President of Playfly Premier Partnerships. In the past John has served as the Director of Corporate Partnerships at the New York Jets and the General Manager of Marketing for Sports at Rutgers University. Thank you John, for sharing your journey and taking the time to speak to us!

In our latest Speaker Series event, Dave Decina, Binghamton Class of 1992, joined us to share his remarkable journey throughout the sports industry, and insights on what it takes for a young professional to succeed. We are happy to announce that Derrick Bradford with be our faculty advisor for the 2024-2025 school year. We look forward to his mentorship and guidance as we continue to expand our club.

During SOM career week, our members were able to participate in a roundtable networking event with some of our incredible staff from the Athletics department.
