Now we're talking! Here a progress video on the #automation the BIM Advantage LLC team is creating for EFCO Forming & Shoring Solutions! For this sprint, the software analyzes the existing #concrete geometry and allows the user to select a specific #formwork product to pour the selected element. We still have a ways to go to fill in open faces but the potential is incredible! This is yet another reason why self-perform #GeneralContractors and #subs need to adopt #BIM in their workflow. Creating concrete #models early allows your formwork #vendors to understand the true concrete scope and provide accurate formwork solutions with less #changeorders. BIM encourages open communication by having detailed conversations EARLY, at bid-stage. Why should #concrete #contractors consider sharing their #quantities with the client? Has a version of the following conversation ever happened to you? General Contractor: “So your competitor can do this #structural concrete scope for 1% less than your bid, can you match?” Instead of agreeing for the sake of winning the project, now you can respond with: “Well, what quantities is my competitor bidding to? Feel free to share our quantities with them. They might have missed something to support the lower number.” Transparency has always been a great way to build trust. Sharing your data with the client gives them information to compare with other bids they’re receiving and helps them understand if those other bids are realistic or not. Sharing #data early on isn’t popular, some even feel that it’s not the best way to do #business. But just think about it. If all concrete subs were bidding to the same quantities, wouldn’t that level the playing field and remove ‘pricing’ from being the ultimate driver? Now the #GC has more important questions to answer… “Why is Contractor A so much cheaper? Did they account for the complexity of cycling #formwork in this specific area? Will they hit me with a load of #ChangeOrders and end up being more expensive than Contractor B?” Maybe they’ll ask you to send them your concrete #Revit #model… #Estimate models are more than just a presentation to include in a proposal. They require effort to build, much conversation to capture the true scope and they give you a competitive advantage over your competition. Sharing another awesome #quantity #takeoff with the people!! Our BIM Advantage LLC team extracted all data in this massive #tiltpanel project for Lithko Contracting to compare with their own quantities. #3D models like these do more than just show your client that your #concrete team are the best equipped to handle the project. Once the project has officially been awarded, the detailing time has been reduced by almost 40%. #BIM has to be more than a pretty picture or as a vessel for 2D drawings. Builders can not use models in the same way that #design teams use models. Quick How-To: Showing accurate #construction #sequence by color (~10-30min task...until Leandro Teles creates an #app for this ?? ) The #Revit #schedule is sorting by two Instance Parameters 1) One Parameter is searching for an image file 2) One Parameter is a Text parameter where the user can input the sequence 3) Select #model elements to be poured, set the image, type out the sequence in the instance parameters 4) Set your #filters in a dedicated 'Sequence 3D View' to shade/color correctly 5) Use Displacement Sets to pull the individual parts & pieces 6) Place views on sheet #TheConcreteGuys #concreteconstruction #RevitForTheWin
