The tradition of placing fresh flowers throughout Biltmore House was started by John Cecil, who wanted guests to feel personally welcomed, and to add life to the house. Today on #NationalFloralDesignDay, we're highlighting our endlessly talented Biltmore Floral Team, who are behind the beautiful designs our guests see in Biltmore House each season, including our beloved Christmas at Biltmore celebration. “Only a word to begin the New Year with. I made my good resolutions last night sitting over a little dying fire. The window was wide open, and the cold night air blew in. The stars were all out, and there was a hushed stillness everywhere as if something were expected. It has been so gloriously beautiful out today; it made me feel wild.” – diary entry from George Vanderbilt's niece, Adele Sloan, on December 31, 1895.
