On Sunday, two days after a South Korean court ruled that ADOR, an imprint of K-pop giant HYBE, retains the right to manage the groundbreaking girl band NewJeans, the five-member act performed its first and possibly only concert in Hong Kong under a new moniker, NJZ — a result of its attempt to break free from the label. After debuting a new song, "Pit Stop," the group announced to the sold-out crowd that it was going on hiatus "out of respect for the court’s decision." The controversy with ADOR and NewJeans/NJZ coincided with a steep decline in HYBE’s share price in 2024 — down 31.5% between April 19 (the day HYBE launched an investigation into ex-ADOR CEO Min Hee-Jin) and Sept. 23 (after a YouTube video of the NewJeans/NJZ members demanding that Min be reinstated went viral). Much of of the meeting was focused on the national security lapse earlier this week, in which national security officials for President Donald Trump, accidentally included the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic in a group chat discussing plans for military strikes in Yemen.? ? During the hearing, Senator Mark Warner also spoke about the benefits of shared security information between allies.? ? He used an August 2024 incident involving Taylor Swift's Eras Tour as an example, as the Grammy winner's shows in Vienna were abruptly canceled following the arrest of three suspects who reportedly planned to unleash a terrorist attack on the shows.? ? Billboard?celebrated Spain’s music industry leaders at a private event March 18 in Madrid attended by over 100 top executives, artists and creators. Held at the rooftop of Gynko at Hotel VP Plaza Espa?a Design, the event celebrated the publication of?Billboard’s Spotlight on Spain included in the March 8 issue of?Billboard?magazine, but also served as an overall celebration of Spain’s vibrant industry, which in the last year reported its highest revenue ever, its highest streaming stats and record-breaking number of tickets sold. Billboard’s Leila Cobo highlighted those achievements and the brand’s intent to continue growing its commitment to the Spanish music scene. “We want to be part of your story and amplify your voices. Our commitment to Spain and its music is complete,” she said. When?Playboi Carti?released his long-awaited third album,?‘Music,’ in the early hours of March 14, it was met with a tidal wave of interest — its songs immediately flooded the daily Spotify and Apple Music streaming charts, and it immediately became Spotify’s?most-streamed album in a day?in 2025. And the album — his first in nearly five years, since 2020’s?‘Whole Lotta Red’ — will likely become his second No. 1 on the #Billboard200 when it officially debuts on the chart next week.
