A new trend with AI tools is to use a single conversation from ChatGPT or Claude to generate something more ambitious - entire applications. This works. If the human on the line is adept, has fundamental knowledge, and knows how to drive the conversation, they can use these tools to not only write functions and solve code issues - they can literally write the entire thing. I've seen it work. In the last few weeks we had a licensing issue with a library we use to scan barcodes. The problem? The library was written in C++ years ago and we had absolutely no experience with it. We ported the library from C++ to Rust and embedded it in the browser with WASM. Results? A fully working library with 100% of the core application code written by AI. Would it have worked without a human? Probably not. We spent a lot of time getting the code configured to work in our specific environment. And ChatGPT helped with that too. But the task itself wouldn't be something we'd even have time to consider in the past. AI changes all of that. Prepare to be more ambitious with your solutions!
