Last week The Big Red Barn Retreat, in support of Boulder Crest Foundation had the opportunity to conduct a 5-day "Struggle Well Train the Trainer" session for designated Clemson University Public Safety staff members and Easley Police at Clemson University. Clemson University is making significant strides in supporting university students and the Public Safety Department personnel through programs focused on mental wellness. The "Learn to Thrive" initiative for students is promoting positive mental health strategies for students. At the same time, the "Struggle Well" program for Public Safety personnel is emphasizing the importance of Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). With the focus on PTG, trainers will be able to assist Department peers transform difficult experiences they encounter into opportunities for personal and professional growth, fostering a supportive environment in which Clemson students and staff can thrive. By providing PTG training, the university is creating an environment where every individual feels valued, understood, and empowered to seek help when needed. The collaboration between students, faculty, and local organizations will only enhance personal growth and build a stronger, more connected community.
