Empowering Philly youth to define their own narrative through filmmaking.

关于我们

Big Picture Alliance uses digital filmmaking to engage, educate and empower over 200 youth every year through our award-winning after school, workforce, and summer programs across Philadelphia. We partner with schools, cultural institutions and social service agencies to bring filmmakers into classrooms and communities to teach collaborative filmmaking through a hands-on project-based curriculum. Youth develop digital literacy and 21st Century skills through producing original films from script to screen - writing, shooting, and editing original films that communicate their perspectives which they present through industry field trips, screenings and broadcasts.

Thanks to WHYY & WHYY Education for hosting our BPA apprentices and family on the set of Albie's Elevator! We got a behind the scenes glimpse into one of the most magical and educational kids' shows on TV - produced right here in Philadelphia! And we even got some free hugs ;) Thanks to the entire cast and crew! Especially Caitlin Corkery and the Big Howl team for your time, generosity, and for creating such an amazing show! Special thanks to Lisa Wilk for making this experience possible.

The theme for this past Summer Teen Media Program was “Dreams”, check out this short personal film titled "Caught Red Handed", that feels like a dream straight out of the mind of Charlie Chaplin. Directed by Connor Fuges and staring Bettina Escauriza, this project follows a thief in pursiut of riches and a bounty hunter looking to stop him. The Summer Teen Media Program is a 6-week intensive where high school students from across Philadelphia collaborate on original films from script-to-screen. Youth learn screenwriting, cinematography, audio, acting and editing under the mentorship of professional filmmakers, and even get the chance to pitch their films to a panel of industry professionals. This program is a partnership of Big Picture Alliance, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Esperanza Academy Charter School, and Taller Puertorrique?o.
