Happy #ThankYourMentor Thursday! ??I’ll start by celebrating another incredible opportunity I had to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas at their “Little Moments, Big Magic” fall luncheon. This time, I had the honor of being a table host, joined by a group of friends I fondly called the #FreedomTable—my brothers and sisters in arms. It was extremely special to celebrate the impactful work BBBS does with this special crew by my side. ??BBBS is more than just mentoring; they’re guiding each #Little toward a future filled with #Big purpose and possibility. Through programs designed to empower, they ensure that every Little leaves with a plan—whether that’s Enlisting in the Military, Enrolling in college, or securing meaningful work that Earns a living wage. This organization sets up each Little for success, fostering resilience and growth in every young person they touch. ??Being a part of their Military Mentorship Advisory Council and Black Advisory Council has truly fueled my soul. It’s just a bouncy ball?? , right? Last week I had the privilege of attending a luncheon ??? hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas and what was supposed to be a small “thank you” really had an impact on me. We were given the opportunity to choose a toy ??from a basket that reminded us of our childhood. I looked inside the basket and saw a little plush animal ??, a toy snake?? and a few other toys but I chose a bouncy ball. I remember being 5 or 6 years old, going out to our driveway and throwing my ball as hard as I could to make it bounce high into the trees ??above. Then I would have to go hunt for it because it would end up in the neighbors yard…????. After a while of jumping fences and searching for this tiny ball, I would go lay in the yard and just stare up into the sky ?? and just imagine how life would be in outerspace. When I was a kid, my dream was to become an astronaut ??, so laying there looking at the sky, my imagination would take to me to so many places, on so many planets and galaxies. (Pluto will always be a planet to me ??) Fast forward to this luncheon??…what was supposed to be a black bouncy ball turned out to really take me back when I turned it around and saw?? it had the solar system inside of it!! This little ball reminded me that even in the smallest moments, don’t forget to DREAM and dream BIG!! Nothing is out of reach, not even the planets and the stars, all you have to do is work hard and never stop using your imagination. I’ll end this with one of my favorite quotes: “Shoot for the moon, for if you miss, you’ll land amongst the stars” -Norman Vincent Peale
