Throughout the month of November, we would like to shout out to those who make it possible for us to provide high-quality, one-to-one mentoring for youth in our community. We're kicking off this #ThankfulTuesday by recognizing partners who provide venue space and skills to our Sports Buddies Mentoring Program! Thank you to Mulligan's Golf Center, Horizons Edge Sports Campus, First Presbyterian Church - Harrisonburg, Elks Lodge 450, Dairy Queen, McDonald's, City of Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation, and Rockingham County Parks & Recreation, for giving matches new and unique areas in the community to gather and engage in fun activities! It's always special for matches to watch and learn from college athletes! We have so much appreciation for the many James Madison University clubs that have hosted clinics for Sport Buddies to teach matches skills and drills. We're grateful for partners that help to make our Sports Buddies an exceptional mentoring program! #BiggerTogether #Mentoring #GoBig #BeBig

It takes LITTLE to be BIG, our volunteers know this. Bigs meeting their Little for a game of Uno, Board Members coming together for a lunchtime meeting, event volunteers sparing a hour to lend a hand, these small moments mean so much to the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Mentorship can bridge the gap between potential and possibility for youth facing challenges. It is with all of our volunteers that we are able to ignite that potential of each young person in our program to reach for their dreams! Along side their guardians, we strive to mentor Littles to be more self-confident, achieve better in school, have higher aspirations, and better relationships. We are able to serve our community because youth and guardians believe in our mission and can see the impact! We are thrilled to celebrate our Communications Director, Brittany Dorman, who was recognized last night by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance as the 2024 Downtown Champion. As shared by Andrea Dono, ”Brittany is raising the bar. We are lucky to have her in our community and that she shares her kind heart and positive energy with so many of us.” Brittany gives so much to our community through her work and volunteerism, and we are proud to have her positive energy, passion, and hard work building a bigger and stronger community through her contributions in our workplace!
