The Success of Tomorrow Begins Today ? As we move forward from an emotionally charged election season, I am reminded of the steadfast resilience of our young people and the unique role we all play in their lives. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado, we witness the incredible potential within our youth, and our work together reminds us that the path to a better tomorrow is rooted in the steps we take today. ? Each day, we feel the power of connection between mentors and young people—relationships that not only offer guidance, but also a sense of belonging and belief. These connections remind us that, even amidst our differences, there are threads of understanding that bring us closer. When we show up with open hearts and open minds, we build trust, foster hope, and inspire young people to see their own potential. ? Our call to action is clear: to stand by our youth with empathy and compassion, seek to understand their journeys and champion their futures. Tuesday, many of us, our friends, and families went to the polls to participate in an election that we know impacts all levels of government, from federal, state and local. This election has brought out a range of emotions within us and as a youth mentoring organization we understand the impact that has on kids and families. ? This election season has been overwhelming and we find ourselves at a crossroads—one where division and disagreements can often overshadow the connections and commonalities we share. Regardless of our different journeys, we all share a collective responsibility to rebuild the connections that make us human, and seek out the ties that bind us, focusing on empathy, understanding, and compassion. And I believe in the human spirit because I've witnessed firsthand the power of authentic connection across this country. One of the most beautiful aspects of our mission is that we often bring people together who would have otherwise never crossed paths or understood certain lived experiences.??Our matches of Bigs and Littles, our connection of families and our convening of communities bring together people from all backgrounds, beliefs, economic levels, identities and differences to one common purpose: helping young people to thrive and by doing so, helping each other to thrive as well. The truth is that the challenges we face won’t be solved overnight, it won’t be easy, and might feel exhausting at times BUT one step in our solution is remembering that building human connection is in our DNA. And a personal solution for both empowering our future generation and finding our own therapy is building an authentic connection with a young person in your community. Yes, the voting might be over for this election, but your voice and actions can still positively influence our communities and our country by the time you give--because remember, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE WATCHING WHAT WE DO IN THIS MOMENT. ? So whether it is through the conversations you are having with kids in your family, volunteering with a mission like ours, or?modeling kindness, empathy and understanding for others—POSITIVE MENTORSHIP MATTERS IN THIS MOMENT. ? And finally, to show up for young people we have to first show up for ourselves, so please be sure to care for your mental health and well-being and check-in on your friends and colleagues. Because in moments like now is when we need each other the most. Prior to joining Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado, Gina held leadership roles at prestigious organizations, including the American Heart Association, Colorado School of Mines, and Special Olympics Colorado. Throughout Gina’s career, she has consistently cultivated strong relationships with corporate partners, donors, and community leaders to secure significant philanthropic investments, including seven-figure gifts and multi-year corporate partnerships. As an effective fundraiser and growth strategist, Gina excels in stakeholder engagement, board management, and volunteer leadership. Her passion for community engagement and staff empowerment has allowed her to create lasting impacts.
