In Fall 2023, we launched a new program, Future Pathways. This program is designed to guide Fellows (mentees) on a journey of self-discovery, skill development, and goal setting with the support of their Coaches (mentors). Meet one of our Future Pathways Matches: Fellow- Brooklyn Lowry and Coach- Corey Dion Lewis! Brooklyn is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration with additional focus on business studies and global and comparative public health at Drake University. Corey is the Founder of MyCityMyHealth, Director of The Healthy Project, and Clinical Health Coach at Broadlawns Medical Center. Brooklyn shares how Corey and Future Pathways has helped her build connections and start on her path to becoming an entrepreneur. “From the invaluable experiences I gained, to an internship working directly with health professionals in the Iowa area, I can confidently say that I would have never had these experiences if it wasn’t for Future Pathways. I have been taught how to build and maintain professional connections that will benefit me in the future,” said Brooklyn. Corey became a Coach because he wanted to give back to a young person the same way his mentors have done for him. Since becoming a Coach, it has been a reminder to Corey that he has a lot of experience to give, but also still a lot to learn himself. “Being Brooklyn's Coach has been an amazing experience. I've learned a lot from her in the little time I've known Brooklyn. I would encourage anyone thinking about being a Coach to do it! Pouring into the next leaders has filled my cup,” said Corey.
