1 in 5 adults in custody battle opioid use disorder. But accessing care for this patient population remains a challenge –– one that Bicycle Health committed to overcoming. Since 2023, we’ve worked with Wellpath and the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) to provide our virtual opioid use disorder care to people in FBOP’s Residential Reentry Centers around the country. It’s a program we’re excited to see continue as we look to put a stop to America’s opioid epidemic. 关于我们
There’s a moment you realize that you can’t continue like this. You want better days, better relationships, and more possibilities. When you’re in the depths of opioid use disorder (OUD), it takes strength and courage to act on that moment. At Bicycle Health, we believe that choosing to start recovery creates hope in the face of hardship. With us, your care begins as soon as you reach out. Most patients get an appointment on the same day or the day after. Our personalized care and medication plans offer professional support and suboxone to control withdrawal. On your best days and your worst days, we’re always here for you. About 95% of patients end problematic opioid use within just one week. And 88% of patients who have been in care with us for a year or more see positive outcomes including easier days, steady employment, and healthier relationships. No one does this alone. Our community of doctors, care providers, and support groups are available every day. With regular check-ins, we’ll work with you to update your care as you make progress. We know that with the right treatment, you can overcome OUD and build a life you love.

The CDC estimates that over 110,000 people in the US died from drug overdoses in 2022, almost 70% of these deaths were caused by fentanyl and other synthetic opioids. Narcan is an easy to administer medication that is saving lives everyday from overdoses. I invite you to join me on February 27th at 2:00-3:00pm EST/ 11:00-12:00pm PST for a conversation with Bicycle Health provider Sarah Purdy PA, who will be joined by recovery coach Dennis Haynes, to discuss the benefits of Narcan and just how easy it is to access! The opioid epidemic is America’s number one public health crisis – and too few people are able to access the treatment they need through traditional models. We’re committed to providing access to affordable, convenient, and confidential treatment while navigating the stigmas associated with opioid addiction. Telehealth allows patients to get high-quality OUD treatment wherever and whenever they need it – and is clinically proven to keep patients in treatment longer. We’re proud to have provided care to more than 40,000 patients in nearly 49 states, and grateful to continue improving access to care across the country. And today, we’re proud to announce new funding and achieving sustainability to further that mission. Thank you to our investors Questa Capital Management, SignalFire, Frist Cressey Ventures, City Light Capital, InterAlpen Partners, Valeo Ventures, Hustle Fund, and JSL Health Capital for your continued support and partnership. Thank you to Erin B. and Axios for sharing the news of our latest fundraise. https://lnkd.in/d_-4Hu4p

A new peer-reviewed study published in?Substance Use & Misuse?of new patients entering into Bicycle Health’s virtual opioid use disorder treatment plan showed that nearly 18% were using buprenorphine that had not been prescribed to them. The takeaway? Expanded access to buprenorphine could actually help lower the rate of diversion and help people receive the care they need. MOUDs are an essential part of our fight against the opioid epidemic. FDA-approved and clinically-proven, buprenorphine is a life-saving medication that helps patients achieve long-term recovery. But instead of protecting and expanding access to this medication via flexible, wraparound virtual care models, buprenorphine access remains arbitrarily limited. To learn more about why people turning to buprenorphine?before?they seek opioid use disorder treatment from providers like Bicycle Health could actually indicate we need to expand access to this life-changing medication, read more about our recent research here. https://lnkd.in/gmk4SwbU

This week, Bicycle Health announced the first-ever virtual medications for opioid use disorder treatment program for adolescents. Now, teens aged 16 & 17 in the state of Maine will be able to access the gold standard in opioid use disorder care—wherever they may be. Organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics have long recommended medications like buprenorphine for the treatment of adolescents with severe OUD. Stigmas and misconceptions around MOUD treatment for adolescents coupled with other access barriers have prevented this often overlooked patient population from getting the care they need early on to reach and maintain recovery into their adulthood. We’re hopeful this program will help break down these barriers to care and become a blueprint for virtual OUD care in states like Maine that also recognize the positive impact MOUD treatment can have for adolescents.
