You are not going to want to miss Jonathan Stalls at the Wisconsin Healthy Communities Summit!
"As most of you know, much of my artwork, writing, Pedestrian Dignity content creation, and more is informed by longer-distance walking experiences. I crave to move for days, weeks, and months at a time on-foot. It continues to be such life-giving medicine for me. When I was contacted by some wonderful people in Madison (looking at you, Marybeth!) to co-host a Pedestrian Dignity audit training for an upcoming Healthy Communities summit on April 29 (linked in comments), I immediately felt drawn to attaching a longer distance walk to it. See the route pictured. I will be walking from April 24-28. It will be roughly 82 miles. I'll move from West Milwaukee to Waukesha (14 miles), Waukesha to Dousman (14 miles), Dousman to Jefferson (17 miles), Jefferson to Cambridge (17 miles), and finish in east Madison (20 miles). I'll be moving on the Glacial Drumlin Trail for at least 60% of the way. As some of you know, I've been a part of several programs/training events in both Milwaukee and Madison for several years (thanks to Amber and Darrin at AARP WI!). We will also be doing a few projects together during this upcoming visit. I'll be sharing more with you along the route as I go." If you want to read the full update, please visit this link. It would be a gift to have you as a free or paid member if interested. https://lnkd.in/gyWEsjDK

Wisconsin Bike Fed's Healthy Communities Summit is going to be full of inspiration to create better places to bike and walk. Please join us!
Next month (April 29), I'll be collaborating on a walk audit supersession with the passionate and talented Jonathon Stalls at the Wisconsin Bike Fed's Healthy Communities Summit. If you have never walked with or worked with Jonathon, it's kind of like going to therapy, hugging a tree, and having a fire lit under you all at once - in the best possible way. Jonathon started the Pedestrian Dignity project (if you don't use social media in your work, he will get real with you that you need to), is a fabulous artist, and is the author of his book, WALK. We will also have Jessie Singer, author of There are No Accidents, as our keynote speaker, in addition to many folks from across the state who are working to make Wisconsin the kind of place where kids can bike to school and people of all ages can walk and bike safely and with dignity. If you're coming from Milwaukee and worried about travel, let me know! The City is considering paying for transportation for a group of staff and advocates.
