关于我们
Mission We, the members of Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation, are committed to the redevelopment of West Town, Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Hermosa, and Avondale communities for the benefit of and control by the low and moderate-income families in these areas. We are deeply dedicated to preserving the ethnic and cultural character of our neighborhoods, while improving the economic conditions of the community. We carry out our mission by: providing high quality affordable housing, struggling against gentrification and displacement, promoting economic development by creating and preserving jobs, and advocating for additional resources. In all our endeavors, we are committed to the principles of: honesty, openness, democratic process, education, involvement and empowerment of community residents, self-worth, self-respect, and pride. Networking with other organizations and stakeholders who share the vision of the community’s collective struggle to conrol its own destiny is integral to Bickerdike’s mission.

We are excited to announce that Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation’s Annual Membership Meeting will take place on December 7th, and we warmly invite you to participate as a sponsor. Your sponsorship supports Bickerdike’s efforts to blend affordable housing with historic and cultural preservation, exemplified by our Boulevard Apartments project. After securing financing in December 2023 and completing months of rehab and upgrades, we are thrilled to announce that the first of three buildings is now ready for occupancy! ? At our Annual Meeting, we bring together our members to celebrate achievements like the Boulevard Apartments project, elect our Board of Directors, review policy updates, and discuss our progress toward establishing an additional 500+ affordable housing units on Chicago’s north side. ? Your sponsorship will play a vital role in supporting this critical ongoing work! ? We invite you to be part of this important event and celebrate the positive transformation we are creating in our community. Our Annual Meeting is an opportunity to highlight your commitment to making housing affordable and accessible for all Chicagoans. Contributions are fully tax-deductible, and we proudly recognize our sponsors in various meaningful ways. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/g3wFkhCJ

We were happy to host participants from the Illinois Housing Council's (IHC) Emerging Leaders Internship program for a tour of Lucy Gonzalez Parsons Apartments last week. The program is the next step in its Emerging Leaders Network and has the goal of growing and supporting diversity throughout Illinois’ affordable housing industry. With the program, IHC aims to provide opportunities for underrepresented populations to learn more about the industry and develop a diverse pipeline of new affordable housing professionals.
