In this newest video of the #BICCreators series, we present Brazilian illustrator Paulo Mariotti, a lifelong #artist whose passion for drawing began in childhood. For Paulo, drawing is much more than a pastime—it’s an exercise in observing and interpreting the world around him. Throughout his career, Paulo worked primarily with digital tools and vibrant colors, creating dynamic adverts that captivated audiences. But in his personal artistic practice, he felt the need to shift in a completely different direction, returning to what he describes as “the essence of his first passion”—the simple, pure line. This decision allowed him to rediscover the beauty of pen on paper. To Paulo, BIC pens are unmatched as tools for capturing fine details, a quality that suits his meticulous approach to art. Paulo also shares valuable advice for artists at all stages of their journeys. "Regular practice is fundamental, but so is leisure," he notes. “Do what you love, because life is what feeds your work, and those who draw are always drawing, even if it’s just in their heads.” This philosophy reminds us that creativity is fueled by everyday life, making art a continuous, evolving practice.
