This week, I had the privilege of attending my first-ever FANUC ASI event. The two-day forum offered numerous presentations and networking opportunities, but what stood out most was the culture and professionalism of everyone involved. Michael Cicco, CEO of FANUC America Corporation, opened the event with an insightful presentation on FANUC’s recent performance and market position. As part of his talk, he emphasized the importance of defining a company’s culture and purpose. He spoke about "knowing what drives you" and "homing in on your culture." As a fellow business leader, I take a deep interest in how organizations build, demonstrate, and live their culture. I was particularly impressed with Mike Cicco’s remarks about their PRIDE philosophy and how he personally meets with every new employee to share FANUC’s culture and discuss his ambitions for their careers. After spending a few days with his team, I can confidently say that his message is genuine, reflecting the camaraderie, professionalism, teamwork, and commitment of the FANUC America team. Beyond their strong market position, this vibrant culture may well be one of FANUC America’s greatest achievements.
